Districts in Downtown Toronto
Downtown
We’ll discuss the core of Toronto first; Downtown Toronto is the city’s central hub and the main business district. The retail heart of the city is Yonge Street from Queen to College. Hundreds of shops can be found here, around 600. Hungry? Over 160 restaurants in the area can satiate your craving. The Toronto Eaton Centre is located here, letting you get your mall shopping done in a jiffy. The mall connects directly with transit, too!
Financial District
The Financial District of Toronto at the intersection of Bay and King Streets. As the centre of Canada’s financial industry, the area is home to the Toronto Stock Exchange. An impressive collection of Toronto condos for sale, Toronto condos for rent, retail, and office spaces can be found here.
Entertainment District
Go west from the financial district, and you will find yourself smack dab in the middle of the Entertainment District. The Mirvish family heavily redeveloped this area in the ’80s. The Canadian Broadcasting Centre, Roy Thomson Hall, the Royal Alexandra Theatre and the Princess of Wales theatre all reside here. Sports, dancing, hotels, shops and great food accompany the bevy of incredible venues in the area. One of the best-known intersections is Yonge and Dundas. Yonge Dundas Square offers a unique public space for holding performances, pop-ups, art installations, and much more. There are also many performance theatres, movie theatres and venues for music. You won’t be bored if you buy real estate in Toronto; there is always something on and somewhere to eat, no matter the time of day or night.
Neighbourhoods in Downtown Toronto
St. Lawrence Area
The area of St. Lawrence falls to the East of the financial district and is one of the oldest & most historic places in our beautiful city. Here you can find Toronto condos for sale, Toronto homes for sale, casual to fine dining, music, theatre, pubs/bars and heritage buildings all right here. The area is known for housing one of the largest groupings of 10th-century buildings in Ontario.
The Harbourfront
The Harbourfront area to the South of the financial district has a history of industrial and railway use. Upon development of the waterfront area, you can now find an impressive number of condos for sale & condos for rent, many with a view of Lake Ontario’s beautiful blue waters. You’re not far from the waterfront here – a short excursion will have you walking alongside the lake.
Yorkville Area
As many of you already know, Yorkville is one of the most prestigious neighbourhoods in the city and Toronto houses for sale here don’t last long. North of the financial district and Bloor Street will bring you into an elegant and sophisticated area home to over 700 designer boutiques, day spas, dining, lodging, art galleries and more. The intersection of Yonge and Bloor Streets is also the intersection of Toronto’s subway lines. Yonge and Bloor is one of the oldest and busiest intersections in Toronto.
